ABOUT SIMON

My approach to life has always been that of curiosity.

MY JOURNEY

I have worked for over 30 years in law enforcement. From early beginnings as a young Hampshire Police Officer in 1990, learning my craft ‘on the beat’, right through to the full spectrum of uniform duties, including Traffic Patrol.

In 2003 I migrated to Australia, but while en route I volunteered in South Africa at two primate rehabilitation centres. A different world to what I had come from.

In Australia I initially worked as a Private Investigator. I then moved into animal welfare and the second phase of my regulatory career saw me as an RSPCA Inspector, Chief Inspector and from there into Local Government compliance ,but still working for good animal welfare outcomes.

WHAT DID THIS PHASE OF LIFE TEACH ME?

It reinforced my values of right and wrong. It taught me that human behaviour can be very predictable, but also very unpredictable. It taught me about compassion and struggle. Not just my own but seeing others fighting for survival. Above all it taught me that my career has given me a purpose, and that purpose is to teach others how to get the best out of themselves.

My approach to life has always been that of curiosity. I have travelled and worked in other cultures, realised that what’s ‘normal’ to me may be far from normal for someone else. I have read widely and been on a constant quest to understand what motivates people, and why the world is as it is.

WHAT HAS THIS TAUGHT ME?

That it’s all about perspective…… We all have different perspectives. We are all capable of having a ‘vision’ for our lives, values, and identity.
I have learned that there is no such thing as average. We are all exceptional, and we are capable of so much more than just survival.

“30 YEARS ON THE FRONTLINE, AN INVESTIGATOR’S TALE”

Soon to be bestseller by Simon Eager

An old Police Sergeant once said to me, ‘There is no greater adventure than everyday uniform policing’. He was right.

“As we took the hard shoulder, and came down on the scene, I saw the slumped form laying just out from under the bridge…thankfully not in lane 1, so hopefully not hit by any other vehicles. It was a bitterly cold afternoon, about 3pm, and the light was fading already…..”

My book will recount some of these adventures, including the highs and the lows. You will meet some amazing characters, and witness situations and circumstances that most people never see or know anything about. You will see life in the ‘raw’; see who picks up the pieces when it all goes wrong.

You will follow me from one side of the world to another as I change one uniform for another. It’s then about the animals. Those that can’t speak for themselves…..
